Promoting a collaborative platform for applications that leverage generative AI

Greeting -- Toward 2023 TRON Symposium

TRON Project started its activities in 1984 based on the philosophy of “Open Architecture,” and will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. In June 2023, "TRON Real-Time OS (RTOS) family," one of the project's achievements, was recognized as an IEEE Milestone in recognition of its significant contributions to the evolution of society and industry. This year also marks the 40th TRON Symposium which was first held in June 1986 as a forum for presenting and discussing the results of TRON Project (then called the TRON Project Symposium). We would like to thank the many people who have supported us.

TRON Project standardizes RTOS for IoT nodes and builds a platform for applications. The project collaborates with other projects and industry associations such as the Association for Open Data of Public Transportation (ODPT) on the application of open data collaboration, and Association for IoT Services Coordination, a general incorporated association for IoT services coordination (AIoTS) to realize Personal Data Store (PDS) as a basis for collaboration among services, Open Smart UR Study Group to establish an ideal housing platform for the digital age, a general incorporated association Vitalizing Local Economy Organization by Open Data & Big Data (VLED) to realize digital transformation (DX) in local regions, enPiT-Pro for recurrent education, etc.

IoT systems are expected to reduce overall energy consumption through their wide use as a measure against climate change, which is an issue for the entire planet, but the additional energy consumption required by the computing power of the IoT itself will also become an issue in the future. From this perspective, a working group on Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) was formed last year and is actively promoting the application of All Photonics Network (APN). IOWN is a future network technology that is said to consume one hundredth of the power, have 125 times the transmission capacity, and have 200 times shorter latency in comparison to the current technology. In addition, projects have appeared that apply generative AI to embedded systems and various other applications. AI is also closely related to the IoT and the future of the global environment in the sense that while it can be expected to reduce the overall energy consumption of society through optimal control of the IoT, additional energy consumption due to the computing power AI requires will also become an issue.

"2023 TRON Symposium ̶ TRONSHOW" will be held again this year at Tokyo Midtown Hall (Roppongi, Tokyo) with the technical co-sponsorship of IEEE Consumer Technology Society, to promote these technologies and activities. It will be held from Wednesday, December 6 to Friday, December 8, 2023. "TRON Enableware Symposium TEPS 36th" to discuss the support of challenged people by means of ICT will also be held on Saturday, December 2. These exhibitions and sessions to be held physically will be delivered virtually to the world in real time.

We appreciate your contribution and exhibition on the floor by agreeing with the main theme of the symposium. Thank you in advance for your kind considerations.

Introduction of 2023 TRON Symposium

TRON Project is a comprehensive project based on “Open Architecture.” TRON open computer architecture is used in various systems as a development platform for IoT edge nodes.

2023 TRON Symposium introduces such IoT edge nodes and development environments. In addition, in this symposium, companies and organizations present the following through exhibitions and sessions.: their use cases with generative AI, which is rapidly becoming popular these day, as well as the latest respective results from Association for Open Data of Public Transportation (ODPT) which is working on a project to build an application platform, a general incorporated association for IoT services coordination (AIoTS), Open Smart UR Study Group, a general incorporated association Vitalizing Local Economy Organization by Open Data & Big Data (VLED), enPiT-Pro for recurrent education, Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN), etc.

This year again, the leading-edge exhibition, research and technical papers will be presented with the technical co-sponsorship of IEEE Consumer Technology Society.
