An increasing population of elderly people and the lack of medical staff and facilities have become big issues in local areas in Japan. To solve these issues, many approaches have been tried, such as telemedical services, medical cooperation among rural regions, efficient emergency medical services and the utilization of Personal Health Record (PHR) by using the latest advanced IoT/ICT technologies.
In TEPS 31st, Shigeatsu Hahimoto, Professor of Aizu Medical Center, Fukushima Medical University gave a speech. He has been involved in the regional medical services in Fukushima prefecture for many years. The symposium also reported the updates of "INIAD Barrierfree Map" that has been promoted as part of "Open Mobility Platform" developed by Faculty of Information Networking for Innovation and Design (INIAD), Toyo University.
Through the presentation and use cases, the role and use of IoT/ICT technologies in the super aging society were discussed.
