Application of ucodes Increasing in Housing Related Fields

As the declining birthrate and aging proportion has meant a bigger burden on society, and global environmental concerns and the problem of waste have worsened, the conversion from a consumer-driven society of "scrap and build" to a stock-oriented society of "creating good products, properly looking after them, and using them carefully over a long period of time" is now an urgent issue in housing related fields.
In order to continue using a house for many generations, effective use of past records of the house (Japanese home information pack’s. i.e. JHip’s) over a prolonged period is important for equipment update, repair/remodeling, buying and selling etc. stages.
For that reason, in addition to a system for passing on JHip’s even after ownership changes, it is important to manage this information from the time of construction so that such information can be used later for remodeling.
To realize this objective, ucodes have been adopted as a "Common ID" to identify houses, and this experimental way of managing JHip’s has been implemented.

In housing related fields, ucodes have already been adopted for "Housing Components Traceable Information Management System" which has been operated by the Center for Better Living since February 2007. In this system, information on the installation locations of approximately 1.2 million fire alarms for houses have been registered as of the end of November 2009.
