 Standard Extension Board

In recent years, the embedded systems have been expanding in scale, incorporating many peripheral functions built around CPU chip. The T-Engine Project aims to enhance distribution and reuse of middleware through strict standardization of the T-Kernel as well as to reduce man-hours required for development by enhancing design efficiency through improvement of distribution and reusability of design of hardware.

In order to facilitate the development of T-Engine-based embedded system, the FPGA Extension board has been commercialized.

FPGA Extension board (Photo 1, 2) is a platform suitable for short-term development of larger circuits. FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) is an LSI, which enables users to program the inner circuit.

Since the inner logical function of FPGA is easy to modify through reprogramming, the time required for development from design change to verification on actual equipment (Turn Around Time) can be shortened. Manufacturing of LSIs such as ASIC require several months in general.

However, if the logic design is completed, actual equipment can be debugged with FPGA immediately as a prototype environment, which enhances the effective design and verification significantly.

FPGA Extension board, which permits the easy design of hardware in small-scale prototypes, makes the simultaneous development of software and hardware possible. T-Engine is an optimized platform for integrated development of embedded systems.
