NoTA (Network on Terminal Architecture) is an open modular and service based architecture for mobile devices and other embedded systems enabling fast adaptation of new technologies and innovations into products. This is achieved through an open system interconnect with pre-verified and loosely coupled sub-systems.
The core of the NoTA solution is the Device Interconnect Protocol (DIP). DIP has been implemented in multiple versatile embedded operating systems including Linux and the T-Kernel (downloadable from www.notaworld.org).
Notaworld.org is the NoTA community web-site receiving contributions from the key industry and academia players such as Nokia, Technical Research Center of Finland VTT, UNL, Notava Inc.
Besides the NoTA community web-site, World-wide NoTA business ecosystem is being formed. This ecosystem consists of the leading semiconductor companies offering their best technologies in NoTA-compatible form, product and integrator companies using these technologies to make the best end-user products, and companies providing R&D services to enable deployment of the NoTA concept. Additionally, universities, research institutes, individuals as well as the open source community are developing novel innovative concepts and technologies based on NoTA.
The 2nd International NoTA Conference organized by VTT and Cypress Semiconductor was held in San Jose, CA, USA between 30th Sept. and 1st Oct. 2009. The event turned out to be a big success with excellent atmosphere and presentations from the leading industry players. The 3rd International NoTA Conference will take place in Japan in autumn 2010.
