This booth exhibits technology which controls Information Appliance via networks using a remote controller based on T-Kernel.
NTT Cyber Solutions Laboratories, a member of the NTT Cyber Communications Laboratory Group, are connecting various Information Appliances to networks in preparation for the era of the adoption of the broadband society and the emergence of the ubiquitous network society. NTT Cyber Solutions Laboratories are carrying out their research and development activities with the aim of realizing new services, hitherto not thought possible, through the synergistic integration of individual devices. Current research topics include an easy-to-use User Interface and individual life log collection a remote controller that can handle various information instruments as easy as the traditional controllers for TVs and air conditioners. “Remote control Centrics,” which is shown at this TRONSHOW, is the fruits of this research. It represents the birth of a new user oriented service!
Each user carries his/her own remote controller. The controller includes memory and sensors such as GPS. It records the user’s operations, the location of each operation, and the appliance accessed. It aims at realizing service that suits user's context and his/her behavioral traits.
The features of the system are as follows.
- User Interface; one remote control for various functions and various appliances
- My remote control; it responds that way I want it to respond without manual programming
- Multiuser interface; one appliance can be accessed by several people at the same time
- Life log; useful data is accumulated simply by carrying the controller around and using it
You can see the video as the following situations.
- The telephone call is made from the TV using the remote control.
- Two or more users can control the TV-channels simultaneously by the “My menu” function
