The Centre for High Performance Embedded Systems (CHiPES) is an embedded systems research and development centre at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. CHiPES is also a founding member of the T-Engine Application Development Centre (TEADEC) in Singapore, and is involved in R&D activities using the T-Engine.
CHiPES has been working at different levels of the T-Engine software stack and will demonstrate this at TRONSHOW 2009. CHiPES has successfully ported the T-Kernel running to two processors from Infineon: TriCore TC1775 and TC1130. Further work has been done to make system development more convenient by building modules such as TM-Console, IMS and support for dynamic loading of applications. CHiPES has also ported open source middleware, such as TCP/IP stack, file system, graphics and GUI engines and device drivers to the T-Engine.
CHiPES is actively conducting research in RTOS-based Dynamic Power Management (DPM). This project considers the role of SDK, applications, middleware and operating systems support in power management. A methodology and standard middleware for RTOS-based DPM is being developed. Other research activities with the T-Engine at CHiPES are focused on hardware/ software partitioning and instruction set customization in soft-core processors.
