Two ubiquitous ID technology related technologies receive consent/ approval/ recommendation in the ITU-T as international standards

Since 2005, the YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory has continually worked on standardizing ubiquitous ID technology internationally in the ITU-T (one of related organizations of the United Nations, International Telecommunications Union standardization sector). In May 2008, consent as an ITU-T recommendation was received, and later in August, approval was received through the AAP process. Following approval, the number F.771 was assigned to the recommendation for the previous F.MID concerning the requirements for a network type combined media information service provided by the reading of tag information on RFIDs, etc. In addition, the number H.621 was assigned to the recommendation of the previous H.MID that stipulated the architecture for realizing F.MID. The number H.621 is essentially based on ubiquitous ID architecture. Distribution on logistics is often featured as application area of electronic tags. However, electronic tags can also be applied to various traceability systems including food traceability systems and a wide variety of application areas such as information services that depend on location and free mobility support services. It is significant that technology proposed by Japan has become an international standard in the place where international standards are discussed and decided amidst the background of the circumstances of each country.

Ubiquitous ID Center acquires RFID a tag object identifier

Ubiquitous ID Center under the umbrella of as T-Engine Forum has acquired an "Object Identifier (Object ID)" to identify data in RFID tags stipulated by the ISO Standard. In the past, there have been problems in systems using RFID tags in that interoperability is poor due to different ways of using the internal memory of RFID tags by different organizations and systems. In order to solve this problem, a proposal was made to make interoperability possible by standardizing the data format and attaching an identifier to individual data. This identifier is the "Object Identifier". Object identifiers are allocated and managed by several international organizations such as ISO and ITU, and the Ubiquitous ID Center has acquired the object identifier "200239" in the space managed by ITU. As a result, the operation of RFID tags that conform to the standards of the Ubiquitous ID Center is now possible without competing with existing standards. In more detail, the RFID tag that conforms to the ISO standard can be used as a ucode tag by prepending "1" as an identifier to identify that a ucode is written in it to the identifier prefix part, ITU(0), supervisory agency (2), and Japan (440) in addition to "200239". The final number is recorded as {0,2,440,200239,1}.

Implementation of the TRON Engineer Certification Examination

The T-Engine Forum has administered the TRON Engineer Certification Examination a few times since June 2008 in cooperation with TRON Association. In the past, when outsourcing software development amidst the background of the shortage of embedded engineers took place, problems in the quality and the delivery date, etc. have occurred since there is no index to measure the technical ability of outsourced companies in advance. The TRON Engineer Certification Examination provides an advantage to engineers as well as companies respectively by measuring the skills of engineers and making them visible. T-Engine Forum has promoted the TRON Engineer Certification Examination among its members and also proactively carried out promotion activities in embedded technology exhibitions such ESEC and ET, etc. In addition, questions similar to those in the past trial TRON Engineer Certification examinations were featured in a series of articles of ITpro by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc., and examination trends were discussed by providing further explanations about these questions. In the fiscal year 2008, the examinations are scheduled four times and were already given in June and September 2008 and will be given in January and March 2009. Since no special qualifications are required for taking the examination, anyone can participate. Finally, the members of T-Engine Forum and TRON Association receive a discount for taking the examination.
