Summary: Ubiquitous Common Platform
Japan Foundation For Regional Vitalization (commonly called Furusato Foundation) consolidates information that respective local governments or tourist areas have, and promote the establishment of the “Ubiquitous Common Platform” to share and publish information on common themes such as literature, history, and hot springs, etc., cooperating with the local community, as part of “e-Regional Resources Utilization Project.” This year, we plan to disseminate tourist information in the eight regions using this Platform. After next year, we plan to further expand application services.
Feature: Ubiquitous Common Platform
1) Information Associated with Space (Place)
Information associated with the space (place) is easily provided by attaching ucode tags to the real space.
2) Simple Operation Allows Information Dissemination
Information can be simply disseminated by entering contents such as text, image, voice, and video, etc. and information on the installation site of ucode tags on the special website.
3) Support for Different Terminals
Tourists who visit sightseeing areas read ucode tags which are attached to each place by using a mobile phone or Ubiquitous Communicator to refer to needed piece of information. Information on where you will go can be also searched in advance on the PC at home, etc.
4) Common Mechanism Usable among Local Governments
Since it is established as infrastructure system by using ucodes and ubiquitous ID technologies, this Platform can provide information using the common mechanism extending over local governments and tourist areas.
5) Context-Awareness Information
Detailed information is provided to match the user’s attribute or context. For example, the Platform can provide tourist information in respective native languages of tourists from overseas, different information for adults and children, or distinct information respectively to fit the preference or interest of different users even at the same place, etc.
