Since its foundation in 1900, Toppan has been expanding its business fields by building on its core competence in printing technology and meeting the changing needs of each decade.

As a result of our development of micro-fabrication technologies and the establishment of an electronics division, Toppan began supplying various, leading-edge electronic components in 1960. Furthermore, by utilizing our securities and card manufacturing technologies, we developed the first IC cards in Japan. Ever since, Toppan has been developing new business as one of the leading companies in the IC card arena.

In tackling IC tag operations, Toppan has built on the IC card and contactless technology developed for the electronics and IC card arenas, and intends to develop new business through a fusion of tag-making technology using printing know-how, and existing technologies such as packaging materials.

On the occasion its centennial anniversary, Toppan decided to promote a selection of new business areas. One of them was IC tags, primarily because they are expected to play a truly innovative role in every field. Now the time is ripe and the RFID market is expanding. As a company-wide project, we are currently putting a much effort into the promotion of IC tag products.
